TEM Photography's 2017 Year In Review

12/30/2017

Happy Saturday!

I truly can't believe it's time for another year in review post, but here we are! 2017 has been such a whirlwind for Andrew and I in some of the best, craziest possible ways! I shared moments and captured memories for some incredible couples, connected with some dream companies, and made some big changes to the business (like adding Andrew officially onto the payroll as a second shooter)!

On top of business as usual, for most of the year we had half of our home (the basement) under construction. Then we decided to add a kitchen renovation on top of it, during the busiest season, of course! Never doing THAT again! Ha! Alright, fine, that's a lie, the end product made the whole darn process worth every second. Here's a couple basement before and after teasers just for giggles as I finish up the full post....

And yes, it REALLY WAS that dark before and it REALLY IS that light now!

2017 also included a little bit of frustration, and a lot of time spent re-learning everything I ever knew about photography... You see, May ended itself with a bang this year, which until this point, I've been too scared to talk about for fear of who knows what... On the Sunday of Memorial weekend, while spending time with family at a city firework show, I was hit in the eyelid with (presumably) a piece of the firework clay/tube/something. For two weeks I had no/blurry vision in my right eye and an insanely dilated pupil. Even after my sight returned, editing was impossible for a month or so due to some double vision and headaches, and just bringing my camera to my face caused enough pressure for pain. But in true Tiffany fashion, I just kept shooting and learning how to do everything with my left eye instead of my right. It always amazes me what I can teach myself with some hard work and a killer "nothing and nobody can stop me" attitude. After a zillion doctor's appointments, three entire bottles of eye drops, hours on the phone with insurance companies, and some time, my eye is slowly healing. I had someone looking over me that night because I still have near perfect vision, I have no scarring, and I still HAVE AN EYE, though it's not fully healed just yet. I'm still shooting lefty and I'll tell you what, I'm actually loving it and probably will never go back! (And fear not, this certainly doesn't hinder my shooting at all, in fact I truly believe this little side step made me twice as strong!)

Alright, enough of that.
Let's talk 2017 by the numbers because this year was nothing short of incredible....

In 2017 alone I shot:
28 Couple/Family Sessions
13 Weddings
12 Boudoir Sessions
11 Interior Properties

8 Engagements
4 Newborns
4 Branding/Headshots
1 Senior
1 Styled Shoot
That makes 82 total sessions and an infinite number of memories in one year, y’all!

In addition to all those amazing session memories, I also have 12 super awesome couples scheduled for 2018 weddings (and one 2019) already! PLUS in 2018, I'm dreaming up a killer styled shoot, have some of my first sessions scheduled in California, and I'll get to stand next to my best friend as her maid of honor on HER wedding day!

As I sit here and reflect on this journey so far, I can't help but get emotional.
Y'all, without this dream career of mine this year would have been impossible. The flexibility though renovation and injury keeps me so hungry to dream big, and make 2018 HUGE.

From the very bottom of my heart I thank you all. Whether we've worked together, you follow me on Instagram, or you happen to stumble upon this post because your friends, friends, friends, saw me at Starbucks once, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE.

Here's to wishing us both a balanced and fulfilling 2018!
ENJOY,
